How Sale and Rent Back Happens

It all starts with a phone call to the sale and rent back company you read about in the classifieds. Then they’ll send over a surveyor for your property, who is most likely on their payroll. Based on what the surveyor tells them, the company will usually tell you their price – about 70% of open market valuation – and sort out contractual details at this point. When this is done, the company’s lawyer will usually handle all the legal formalities from this point on, and then agree a date for the tenancy signing and handover. As you can see, it’s all pretty straightforward.
